Bioness

The use of functional electrical stimulation following stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, or cerebral palsy has been shown to improve motor recovery and functional use of the involved extremities.

HealthPoint Rehabilitation is the only provider in the state utilizing the Bioness L300 and H200 treatment systems which combine functional electrical stimulation with traditional neuro therapy techniques to activate involved muscles in the arm or leg and improve functional movement patterns.

The use of the Bioness L300 or H200 treatment system can assist with:

  • Maintaining or increasing range of motion
  • Increasing blood circulation
  • Reducing spasticity
  • Preventing or decreasing muscle loss

The L300 assists with restoring a more normal gait pattern and replacing traditional bracing while the H200 assists with improving hand function and voluntary upper extremity movements.

The therapy team trained to utilize the Bioness treatment system at HealthPoint Rehab includes Donna Miller, MSPT, Ashley Dirnberger, MPT, Mary Cotner, PTA, and Kristin McRaven, OTR/L. The Bioness treatment system is also being used in the inpatient department at Southeast Hospital.
