Therapeutic Listening
Therapeutic Listening is a sensory integration program. Selected background metronome or rhythmic music seems to calm sensory systems that are "over stimulated" so that the individual can perform more proficiently. This approach is utilized in special populations to assist with normal growth, development and learning of the central nervous system.
The technique focuses on the use of auditory stimulation in combination with sensory integrative treatment techniques and is centered on facilitation of the vestibular system.
Musical sounds, rhythms, and styles are used to activate the vestibular systems and prepare it for skills. |
