Exercise is an integral part to the recovery process after mastectomy, lumpectomy or axillary node dissection. Healthpoint Rehab team member, Paula Stout, PT, CLT leads participants through a 45-minute fun and easy exercise routine. The class also focuses on education about how to move, proper therapeutic exercise, posture, lymphedema risk reduction, return to regular activity and more.
Movement after surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy for breast cancer is important for many reasons. It can help prevent loss of motion, decrease pain, reduce the risk of lymphedema or improve lymphedema for those already affected by it, increase flexibility, and improve strength, posture and balance and coordination. It also is a way to begin a habit of healthy exercise and promote a sense of wellbeing.
