Wellness programs take aim at a healthier YOU

Wellness is a passion for Southeast Missouri Hospital. Just ask our Wellness Manager Cindy Seyer, CRT, RRT, AS.

Southeast has a long-standing commitment to wellness programs in the community for both adults and children. We know the importance of exercise, nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices and we want to share this healthy message wherever we go.

You can find us at the West Park Mall, local daycares and fitness centers jumping around with children as part of our Romp 'n Stomp and Kids Bee Fit programs. We want to show kids that exercise can be fun, and help develop a life-long passion for fitness.

You can find us talking up walking at our new Walk 'N Be Fit program twice monthly at the West Park Mall. We encourage the benefits of walking, and present informational programs you can use.

You can also find us at organized walks and runs throughout the year, many of which draw more than 150 participants. Our Women's Distance Festival each September benefits Breast Cancer Patients. And don't forget to start the New Year out Right with our Resolution Run each January 1.

You'll find us in the schools, teaching after-school programs about exercise, nutrition and weight management such as our Way to Go Kids program.

You'll find us in the workplace, conducting screenings of employees in conjuction with our HealthWorks program and helping workers make better lifestyle choices. We also teach Freedom from Smoking classes to the workplace and the community, And we're leading by example, with Southeast Missouri Hospital choosing to go Smoke-Free on its entire campus last September 1.

You'll find us at community blood pressure screenings, and Heart Smart screenings for cholesterol and lipid profiles three days a week at our fitness centers.

You'll find us at camps we sponsor for special kids with diabetes and disabilities such as Camp Day Break and Super Nova. We have also provided an exercise program for the Horizon Enrichment Center, a program for disabled adults. No matter what the skill level, we want to make exercise and fitness fun for kids and adults.

You'll find us in the classroom, teaching CPR and First Aid to healthcare professionals, teachers, camp counselors, youth leaders and others who work with children.

At Southeast Missouri Hospital, we're serious about helping the community become healthier.
